Pattern Testing

In May I volunteered to test a new dress pattern from a blog that I follow, Posy Gets Cosy.
I finally finished the dress last week and I think it turned out pretty cute.

We were asked to try it on a little person to make sure the sizing is correct. After a few attempts, my friend was finally able to convince (more like bribe) her 2-1/2 year old to model it and get some pictures for me.

Addison was really not happy, obviously.

I feel so badly about it, but at least she got some M&Ms out of the deal.

The dress fit very well, except for the yoke which was a bit tight going over the head. I guess that's what pattern testing is for. It was a fun experience for me making the dress and learning to never again attempt getting a 2 year old to do anything like this!

Calgon take me away!!!

Day 3 of John's absence:
As I was getting out of the shower this morning, I heard Daisy and Tony fighting like they were about to tear each other up. I ran downstairs in my towel to discover that I had forgotten to barricade the refigerator door. Tony, of course, had opened the fridge and eaten the entire 9x13 pan of chicken pot pie that I made last night to be my dinner for the rest of the week.
I know that it is my fault, but seriously...what beagle can eat that much in less than 10 minutes? Apparently mine can. I think I feel more sick than he does. I swear if I come home to throw-up or poop all over my bedroom I am MOVING here and never coming back!!!

Sometimes my heart hurts...

Just look at how big these girls are getting!
It has now been almost a year since I've seen them, 2-1/2 for John. They're going to be all grown up and we'll have missed it.

Memorial Weekend Roofing Project

Yuck! What a horrible roof!
After the gutters fell off two winters ago from being overloaded with ice, we thought it might be time to replace the roof on our addition. This spring we noticed the plywood peeking through the shingles.
It's definitely time.

John decided he could do it himself, so with a little advice from a pro he set to work on Friday morning of Memorial Day Weekend.

Looks so much better just with the shingles gone. (This took an entire day!)

Now for the shingles...
Does that look at all safe? Please don't fall off!

Oooh, pretty!!
Lastly, the new gutters.
There are a few little things to finish, of course.
Now we can walk up the stairs in the winter without fear of slipping and the roof won't leak.

Onto the next project...

Malise's Quilt

This fun quilt was made for our friends' new little girl, Malise Adelle. She was born May 19. Fortunately, we had just been up that weekend to visit and were able to bring the quilt with us.
The pictures were appliqued from Lashara's original drawings for her nursery.
Bears
Deer

The finished quilt
This was a lot of fun and a learning experience for me. I thought up the quilt entirely by myself, though in a way it was a joint effort. (Lashara is so talented!) I'm really happy with how the quilt turned out, it's so fun to be able to do original pieces.
